Rock’n’Roll ain’t pretty and neither is Scott H. Biram. The self proclaimed ‘Dirty Old One Man Band” successfully, and sometimes violently, lashes together blues, hillbilly and country to raucous punk and godless metal. Check it out at Black Cat, June 19th.
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
I can’t say for sure, but a couple of the first gigs I remember going to as a kid were Doc & Merle Watson at The Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX. Also my first big arena concert to attend was Charlie Daniels and Bonnie Raitt in 1982 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. My first rock concert was David Lee Roth and Poison in like ’86 or ’87.
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
I’ve played so many it’s hard to say. CBGB’s in New York was a good one. It was great playing at The Fillmore West recently in SF. I always have really great gigs in Seattle and San Francisco. Probably my biggest headline crowds are those places. So maybe it was one of those. Hometown gigs in Austin are always a fuckin’ good time! Shit, I really couldn’t say. I have a great time at all of them…well most of them if I can remember! ha ha!!
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
I saw the Cramps back in ’93 or ’94. That was a great show! I remember thinking…”This is one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to!”…Then I saw ZZ Top a few years ago at The Backyard in Austin. That might have topped the other one. I also recently got to meet Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top backstage at one of my shows in LA recently. That was awesome! I think I’m still not over it!
What is the gig you would most like to play?
I would love to open for ZZ Top sometime! When I met Billy I realized that I had probably just met THE guy that I would have ever most liked to meet. I don’t think it’s that far out of my reach either! I hope it happens someday!
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
Scott H. Biram, Butthole Surfers, Roky Erickson, ZZ Top! Again maybe it’s possible someday! I know alot of these folks already. It’s just a matter of someone putting the fuckin’ show together! Fingers crossed!
