Ticket Alternative Wishful Office Renovations!

It’s fun to have dreams and hope for something greater regardless of what it might be and here at TATP headquarters we’re no different. Well, actually we are a little different and that’s because the things we hope and dream for are a little absurd. One popular and sillier topics of conversation around the office include the great potential for our office to become something more reminiscent of a fun house. Rather than ball pits and crawl-through tunnels we were thinking of some things better suited to our needs here. So we’ve come up with a list of some amazing and super fun ideas for some office renovations.

1.            A Slide!

Out with the old….

…and in with the new.

2.            Bunk Desks (Hollywood Squares style)

(Rather than the conventional desk set up, we’d have sprial staircases and the works)

3.            WhirlyBall on the roof

4.            Soundproof print room

5.            Those sleep-chamber things in The Fifth Element, where you lay down, press a button and you’re OUT.

6.            TA Café – Where “Boca Bucks” can be earned for free lattes, cappuccinos, etc. (Complete with in-house barista.)

7.            Omelet Bar/Prime Rib Bar.

8.            “Tickie’s T.A.-care” – daycare service.

(Is it obvious that I didn’t have Photoshop installed on my computer? Hey, gotta work with what you got, right?)

9.            A vending machine.  Just a simple, vending machine.

These vending machines were especially selected for two of our very special employees…

10.          A trick bookshelf that will provide for us a shortcut to the water dispenser and the front door.

On the other side of this wall is our only office water dispenser, so we were thinking something more like this….

Pretty sweet, eh? I mean, am I right or am I right?

TA Tackles the Ocoee!

TA Tackles the Ocoee!

By Taylor Garner

Work hard, play hard. A rule we abide by here at Ticket Alternative and a rule that was certainly in effect when we attempted to raft the Ocoee River this past weekend.

After meeting at the office and fueling up on chicken biscuits, we all piled in to a non-descript, 12-passenger van to begin our journey. The two and a half hour trip was filled with numerous rural Georgia sight-seeing opportunities including tractors on the road and local political candidates taking it to the streets (horse-drawn carriage style). Once we crossed the Tennessee state line it only took a few more minutes to reach our destination: Outdoor Adventure Rafting, also fittingly known at O.A.R. We had a brief safety introduction at O.A.R.’s facilities and then we suited up and loaded onto a bus which took us to the Ocoee’s banks.

The Ocoee is a 93-mile river that runs through Tennessee and ends in North Georgia. In 1996, the river was used for whitewater slalom events for the Olympics, which were being held in Atlanta. For our trip however, we skipped the Olympic-level stuff and went with the more newbie friendly middle course. We had to split into two rafts and wait behind a multitude of other rafters before we were finally in the water. Noel was the first one to attempt the courageous bull-riding maneuver where are rafter sits on the front of the raft with legs over the edge and holds on for dear life. Noel ended up on the rafts floor, legs sticking up in the air. At the end of the course, Michael and Taylor attempted the same maneuver. Michael bravely made it to the end of the course but Taylor was not so lucky. Unfortunately, he was flung from the raft and had to swim the last rapids.

We stopped by the Dam Deli & Diner to eat and after a nap filled van ride we were back home! It was an exhilarating trip and to be honest we’re still a little sore today, but nothing slows down here at the office, especially on a Monday.

TA Morning Meetings Are More Fun Than a Barrel of Monkeys

TA Morning Meetings Are More Fun Than a Barrel of Monkeys

Our weekly Tuesday morning breakfast meetings get everyone caught up on the goings on at Ticket Alternative, and they are very serious business. You know, how did we do this week? What do we have on the horizon? How can we improve things around the office?

And sometimes we play Barrel of Monkeys.

The rules are fairly simple:

1.) Dump monkeys onto table.
2.) Pick up one monkey by an arm.
3.) Hook other arm through a second monkey’s arm.
4.) Continue making a chain.
5.) Your turn is over when a monkey is dropped.

We were very lenient on rule #5. Basically, the winner was the person who had the most monkeys linked together at the end of one minute. Everyone had to participate, and the final four came down to Ben, Jason, Jeremy and Noel, who all tied in round one with nine monkeys. In the tie-breaker rounds, Jeremy and Jason effectively choked, with six and three monkeys, respectively. Noel and Ben dominated with another strong showing, Noel linking nine and Ben, 11. In the championship battle for Monkey Supremacy, Noel came out on top with 10 monkeys, to Ben’s seven. Ben shrieked and jumped, and beat his chest. Noel wielded his newly discovered “bone as weapon” above his head. Things became heated. After a quick refresher that Ape Shall Not Kill Ape (sometimes we forget!), cooler heads prevailed, Target gift cards were handed out to the winners, and everyone dispersed to their desks to begin their work day.

We Celebrate a Record-Breaking Month with a Happy Hour!

May was a record-breaking, sales goal-crushing month for Ticket Alternative. The ticket printing department had their best month ever, printing more tickets and shipping more wristbands than ever before. On the ticket sales side, we had events as varied as the 2011 Adidas Grand Prix at Icahn Stadium in New York, True Colors Theatre Company’s performance of Fool For Love at the Balzer Theatre at Herren’s, The Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Concerts in the Garden series (featuring Jonny Lang, Indigo Girls, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Los Lobos and Colbie Caillat), and the highly successful Atlanta Food and Wine Festival keeping our noses to the grindstone. In short, it’s a great time to be on Team TA! … Continue Reading
