Atlanta’s True Colors Theatre Company Needs Your Help!

Atlanta’s famous True Colors Theatre company, led by Tony-nominated director Kenny Leon, needs some assistance. Here’s a message the theater company is sending out:

If we can raise $50,000 from our patrons by June 30th, our board has committed to raise $100,000 to end our season DEBT FREE!

Please consider making a donation today if you have enjoyed our exceptional theatre in the past, so that True Colors can continue to bring Kenny Leon’s vision to Atlanta.

Ticket Alternative Sponsors Atlanta Foursquare Day

We’re happy to be a part of the second annual Atlanta Foursquare Day, happening on Saturday, April 16. We’re joining sponsors like Engauge, Fifth Group Restaurants, Sweetwater Brewery and others in celebrating some great deals and a fabulous party at W Atlanta Downtown.

This year there will be more special deals all day from the likes of Rita’s (free Italian ice), Dancing Goats Coffee Bar (BOGO on all coffee/espresso drinks) and more (check out the full list and details HERE).

There will also be a party held at W Atlanta Downtown on the hotels rooftop bar. There is no need for an invite, folks just have to check-in “2011 Atlanta Foursquare Day Party” venue at the hotel to get entry. Party-goers will be treated to a complimentary “Foursquare Cocktail,” as well as Foursquare buttons, coozies, stickers and, for the first 100 entrants, a free Foursquare T-shirt. The W will also be bringing in bites from their well-known restaurants, and a cash bar will feature drink specials.

Local charities Atlanta Community Food Bank and Atlanta Humane Society are also involved and will be benefiting from this event. Attendees can bring non-perishable food for ACFB, and at check-in there will an opportunity to make a pledge to Atlanta Humane Society. That pledge will be multiplied by the number of check-ins (capped at 250) to give the final pledge. So if a person pledges 10 cents and the number of check-ins is 250, their final pledge would be $25. More information about this event is available HERE.

Hard Rock Cafe’s Velvet Underground in Atlanta Raises Money for Imagine There’s No Hunger

Atlanta’s Velvet Underground at Hard Rock Cafe is doing their part to raise money for the great charity WHY, which was started by radio talk show host Bill Ayers and the late singer-songwriter Harry Chapin. Velvet Underground is throwing shows in conjunction with their Imagine There’s No Hunger campaign, and the money will be going to fight hunger and poverty around the world, focusing on Haiti, Kenya, Thailand and India.

Ticket prices include three (or more) cans of food. Those who don’t bring the cans of food on the day of the show will have to pay the remainder of the day of show ticket price.

Velvet Underground will be throwing two shows to raise money for Imagine There’s No Hunger:

Tyler Bates plays with Emily Lynch and The Daniel Lee Band on November 26.

Elevation plays with Shirock and Asherel on December 17.

Hardcore D.C. Legends Government Issue Return for a Benefit Show at Black Cat, December 11

Singer John Stabb returns with fellow punks Tom Lyle, J. Robbins and Pete Moffett to reform Government Issue, the legendary hardcore punk band part of the seminal D.C. scene in the ’80s. The band will be playing with The Goons and Set To Explode at Black Cat on December 11. The event is a benefit show for D.C. mainstay DJ Stereofaith, who had to have brain surgery recently. Tickets just went on sale this morning, and they’re already going fast, so grab yours now.

Just Announced: Widespread Panic VIP Tickets at Center Stage, September 23

Widespread Panic are playing a special charity show for Tunes for Tots, which supports arts and music education for kids, at Center Stage on September 23. If you are a mega-fan who really wants to support the cause and get up close and personal with your idols, then you might want to splurge for the $500 VIP tickets, which gets you into the private VIP cocktail party with the band before the show (which includes open premium bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres from renowned Empire State South chef Hugh Acheson), early admittance to Center Stage, private cash bar during the show, signed poster and VIP parking. 4th Annual Songwriters Series: Tribute to Kenny Chesney at the Hard Rock Cafe Nashville – June 10-12

Hard Rock Cafe Nashville hosts the 4th Annual Songwriters Series, a three-night tip-of-the-cowboy hat to Nashville’s top songwriters and a special tribute to country music superstar Kenny Chesney, June 10-12.

Held in Hard Rock Cafe Nashville’s new Reverb Room, proceeds from each show will benefit Musicians On Call (MOC), a nonprofit organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in health care facilities in Nashville and across the country.

Check Out: Vero Sings for the Victims Will Raise Voices Against Violence

Vero News has written a piece about the upcoming “Vero Sings For the Victims” event:

VERO BEACH — In recognition of National Crime Victims Rights Week, local singers will participate in Vero Sings for the Victims, 3 p.m. Sunday, April 18 at the Waxlax Theater for the Performing Arts at St. Edward’s School.

The fundraiser will create an emergency fund to benefit victims of violent crimes such as rape, murder, assault and battery. The fund will assist victims who must go through the court system for the State Attorney’s Office and are temporarily pressed for funds due to the crime.

Dancing With Vero’s Stars at The Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts in Vero Beach, FL

Mark Wills & Friends Come to Hard Rock Cafe Nashville for March on Stage Benefit Concert

Hard Rock Cafe's around the country are hosting March on Stage concerts to raise money for Musicians On Call. The charity, formed in 1999, brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in health care facilities. Nashville's Hard Rock Cafe will be bringing Mark Wills and more to play on April 8.

All proceeds will be going towards Musicians On Call, and you can increase those proceeds by buying a limited-edition March on Stage commemorative pin at the event. Tickets are on sale here now.
