Innovative indie rockers Cloud Cult have been gathering steam lately with a host of media exposure, critically acclaimed live shows, and an east coast tour that will kick off with an acoustic performance at New York’s Knitting Factory during the CMJ music marathon.
Cloud Cult mixes an unusual blend of edgy yet soft vocals, texture provided by cello and violin players, and an indie rock backbone. The Minneapolis group released the album Feel Good Ghosts, (Tea Partying Through Tornadoes) and it has been drawing critical praise and commercial attention. The Denver Post raved “…the main draw is the band’s unpredictable mix of indie rock, chamber pop and folk,” and the LA Times described their music as “…glorious waves of cinematically scaled chamber rock." Songs have been featured on television shows Gossip Girl and MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge. Cloud Cult also recently performed on The Last Call with Carson Daly.
Live shows have quite possibly been garnering the most praise. Cloud Cult’s headlining performance at the Monolith Festival VIP party in Denver was buzzworthy, and the group will now be embarking on an east coast tour. The tour will swing through Black Cat in D.C. on November 10 after starting with a special acoustic set for the CMJ Music Marathon in New York.
