The actual Taste of Atlantaevent might not be until October, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of stuff going on behind the foodie scenes. First on the agenda is a baking contest to raise money for Share Our Strength, a charity that strives to ensure that no child in America grows up hungry. The Share Our Strength's 2nd Annual Great American Baking Contest will actually be taking place across the country (in Atlanta, for example, the event will be at The Cook's Warehouse in Midtown). Kevin Rathbun has racked up further accolades, this time for his Inman Park restaurant Kevin Rathbun Steak, which was named one of the Top Eight Steakhouses in the United States. Rathbun has always been a foodie fave, with Rathbun's and Krog Bar also at the top of many people's lists.
The 12th Annual Georgia Organics Conferencetakes place March 20-21 at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, and will feature a keynote address from author Michael Pollan, as well as the opportunities to learn about locally grown, sustainable food and great growing habits.
