Leila’s Three Picks: Goldfrapp, MGMT, Sleigh Bells

Good evening all! Hope you’re having a fab Friday and have a glorious weekend to look forward to. We certainly do. Naturally there are some great shows on the horizon, and we’ve also got some brilliant new music to listen to too.

Goldfrapp is back with a new, shiny, discotheque sound and look, and we love it. Her latest video for “Alive” has the usual eccentric oddities with a wicked twist.

The subject of MGMT‘s new record is pretty controversial, but the band’s performance of “Brian Eno” on “Letterman” sealed the deal for us. One coworker said, “It sounds like The Libertines on acid.” Lush.

Sleigh Bells are another band causing a bit of argument in the music world – specifically, in our own TA offices. But what can’t be denied is that they are making a helluva noise – both figuratively and literally. They’re playing Rock and Roll Hotel in D.C. on July 2 (SOLD OUT!) and Vinyl in Atlanta on July 10.
