The Austin, TX based band Quiet Company bring their charming indie rock to The Black Cat this Thursday. This past year, the band enjoyed many accolades, including awards for the Austin Chronicle’s 30th Annual Austin Music Awards: 2011-2012 Band of the Year, Album of the Year for We Are All Where We Belong and Song of the Year for “You, Me & the Boatman.” Frontman Taylor Muse was voted Musician of the Year, Best Male Vocals and Best Songwriter, and Jeff Weathers was voted Best Drums. Muse joined us for our 5GB series before their show this week.
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
I think it was DC Talk with Audio Adrenaline at The Oil Palace in east Texas.
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
We headlined the last Blues On The Green this year, which is a concert series that Austin radio station, KGSR, throws every summer in Zilker Park. We played in front of about 11,000 people and it was pretty surreal.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
I once drove from Tyler, TX to Bushnell, IL to see a band called Luxury, and they were totally worth it. Probably a toss up between that and the first time I saw Radiohead.
Gig you would most like to play?
We’d love to tour with someone like Arcade Fire.
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
Neil Young circa 1967
Smashing Pumpkins circa 1995
Quiet Company circa now.
Catch Quiet Company at Black Cat, Nov. 1
