He’s a sucker for lace. She’s a sucker for stubble. He can’t resist a pretty face, and she never could say no to trouble. And that’s how Megan Jean and Byrne Klay came to find one another, form a family of two, and call it their family band. They joined us before their show at the Black Cat.
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
My first gig ever was Oasis in Seattle when they were touring for “What’s the Story, Morning Glory?” I didn’t like their rockstar attitudes, so I started listening to a lot more punk rock afterwards. I was around 12.
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
Without a doubt, it was when we played the Under-The-Radar competition last summer. It was the biggest audience we’ve ever had, several thousand, and they were all clapping and cheering so loud I didn’t know what to do with myself. Both my husband and I cried a little onstage, it was overwhelming, to have that much love thrown at you. We didn’t know what that felt like, even after playing 1000 gigs together. We won the competition, by the way, and will be playing the mainstage in 2013.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
The best gig I’ve ever seen has to be when I saw the Avett Brothers at a 50 capacity room. I had seen them the night before promoting their show at the open mic. I came back the next night to find the audience streaming out. I though surely I had missed them. I walked up to Seth I think, and apologized for missing the show. He grabbed my shoulders and said “Darling, the last guy that played used to be the lead singer of the Spin Doctors, and now everybody is leaving.” I was the only person in the audience, but it didn’t stop them from playing like there were 10,000…I bought their first record “A Carolina Jubilee” off them out of the back of their car for $8.67 (it cost $10) cause that’s all I had. Two years later, they were on Letterman.Monsters of Folk at the Victoria Theatre in Harlem.
Gig you would most like to play?

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
