What’s the first gig you ever attended?
It was probably an Asha Bhonsle (Bollywood playback singer) concert at Madison square garden the smaller space was called the Felt Forum at the time. I was 7. The first gig without it being a family event was Michael Jackson Victory Tour. I convinced my dad to buy scalped tickets. My sister and I were on the 10 row floor of Giant Stadium.
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
That is a hard one. I love always playing at my monthly party in New York, Basement Bhangra. Especially after traveling. Also I love love playing at the Black Cat it’s a 2nd home. The Brooklyn museum first Saturdays in the rotunda. Brooklyn Bridge park- being on the water close enough to feel like you can touch the Brooklyn Bridge. And last but not least I played at IIT(a science university in Chenai India) in an open air stadium for 9,000 people. Sorry as I said hard to pick just one.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
Well this answer could weekly but I saw Maya Rudolph perform Prince covers with the Roots a few months ago.
Gig you would most like to play?
Hard to say. But I love outdoor shows that are all ages. So the largest manifestation of that I guess. But in a way where I am close proximity to the audience.
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
Biggie Smalls, Miss Pooja, Apache Indian, Malkit Singh, Mary J. Blige, Salt n Pepa, Edie Brickell, Carole King
