Happy 2013! I’d like to start off by declaring that we are NOT going to experience the so-called “Winter Blues” this year! There are too many AWESOME events coming up for such a thing to happen. Whether you made resolutions for 2013 or skipped the tradition, let’s all resolve to have more fun!
Here’s my list of great Winter events that are sure to liven up your January and February:
Ohmpark Music Festival, January 12th, The Earl and 529
To celebrate six years of blogging Atlanta’s independent music scene, Ohmpark is throwing the first ever Ohmpark Fest. On Saturday, January 12th, 2013, The EARL and 529 will host this inaugural blogger ball. Showcasing some of the city’s most compelling musical artists, Ohmpark carefully selected 14 different acts to share one special night together in the East Atlanta Village.
30A Songwriter’s Festival, January 18th-20th, Northwest Florida Gulf Coast
The 30A Songwriter’s Festival is a three-day music festival featuring more than 125 songwriters and over 200 performances in venues ranging from intimate listening rooms to spacious outdoor amphitheaters amid a backdrop of brilliant white sand beaches and turquoise waters along scenic Highway 30A in Northwest Florida. The lineup includes artists such as Lucinda Williams, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jeffrey Steele, Nanci Griffith, Shawn Mullins, Suzanne Vega, Fastball, and many more!!
Blue Man Group, January 18th-19th, Fox Theatre
This iconic and funky group delivers comedy, theatrics, music and multimedia, creating a unique and unforgettable experience. The beautiful setting of the Fox Theatre only enhances the colorful performance.
2013 UCI Cyclocross World Championships & Masters World Championships, February 2nd-3rd, Louisville, KY
The 2013 UCI World Elite Cyclo-cross Championships will be the first time the 60-year-old event has been held outside of Europe. The Elites are expected to draw 5,000 to 10,000 fans and riders to Louisville from North America and Europe to participate in an event like no other, a high-energy mix of hard racing and celebration.
The Whiskey Gentry, February 8th and 9th, The Earl
2 nights of the best that bluegrass and country have to offer. The Whiskey Gentry is loud, spirited, and sing-along good time! Don’t shy away if you dislike country music,(I’m not a huge country fan either) this is old-school, toe-tapping, whiskey-drinking fun. Lead singer, Lauren Staley, is adorable and mighty talented!
Flashdance, February 5th-10th, Fox Theatre

Winter Beer Carnival, February 9th, Atlantic Station
The 4th annual Winter Beer Carnival is being expanded to offer more beers and the games you love.
