From humble beginning of weekend jams to being nominated for a 2011 Unearthed J Award and finding themselves at #7 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown,
San Cisco have set themselves apart from their counterparts with their rough low-fi garage pop energy and depth of song-writing. The four piece have since recorded their debut album which was released in 2012.
We caught up with the band to ask them a few questions! Make sure you read below to see what word San Cisco uses to describe their music!
What is the strangest thing a fan has done for you or at your show?
“There has been quite a few great photo edits that fans have done for us. I think our favourite would have to be our faces superimposed on four different flavoured soda cans.”
What is the funniest moment you have had as an artist/band so far?
“That’s a hard one! Some funny shit goes down when we are on tour but a great memory of mine was the Golden Revolver video clip and spending the day on that raft. We laughed so hard we nearly drowned.”
Do you have any pre-show rituals?
“Yeah a Red Bull, tea towel fight and a sing-along.”
If you could describe your music in one word, what would it be?
How do you connect with a crowd?
“By showing them love and affection. Being gentle yet firm. Eye contact is always pretty hot too.”
How did you come up with your band name?
“We had a bunch of names and we couldn’t decide which was the best so we had a Facebook event to asked our fans to choose which name they liked the most. San Cisco came out on top and we liked it so we went with that.”
What is the best way to write music?
“Spontaneously and with soul.”
Make sure you check out San Cisco playing this Saturday, March 23rd at The Rock and Roll Hotel!
