TA’s Picks for Record Store Day! THIS Saturday, 4/20!

Record Store DayOur team here at Ticket Alternative is gearing up for another exciting Record Store Day this Saturday, April 20th. If you’ve never been to Record Store Day it’s the one Saturday every year when select music retailers around the country sell limited edition CDs, vinyl and the like to encourage people to support their local record store. Our friends at CD Warehouse, Decatur CD and Criminal Records are going to be selling lots of really cool, rare music. There are a whole lot of exclusives being sold only on Record Store Day and they’ve compiled the entire list on the official Record Store Day website.

Here are some of our picks for the best gems this year!

Nick Hardy
Between The Buried And Me – Parallax 1 & 2 Vinyl Boxset
Silverstein/August Burns Red – Four Minutes Being Cool
Lamb of God – New American Gospel
Rob Zombie’s record spins backward which is awesome
Also, this Testament release is the sexiest looking record ever!

Shawn Hankerson
Twelve Reasons to Die, the new collab album from Ghostface Killah of the Wu Tang Clan and producer Adrian Younge comes out tomorrow, and in honor of record store day the Rza’s Soul Temple Records will be releasing an alternate version of the album created by Detroit based producer Apollo Brown.

This limited edition cassette, called “The Brown Tape”, will be given away for free along with Issue #1 of the official Twelve Reasons To Die comic book with the purchase of the CD or LP at participating independent record stores around the country. I’m pretty sure the usual suspects of stores around Atlanta and Athens… Criminal, Wax’n’Facts, Fantasyland, Wuxtry, Moods Music in Little 5, maybe even CD Warehouse… etc will be participating in this release. In addition… Ghostface Killah and Adrian Younge’s Venice Dawn will be performing at Terminal West on May the 18th in support of the album.

Side note… in support of this limited edition Brown Tape, they have also released a video Rise of the Black Suits off of this remix project.

The Shangri-Las – Remember (Walkin’ In The Sand)
Various Artists – The Rough Guide To Psychedelic Brazil

I feel like this genre of music gets little to no exposure in the US and with these releases, they could be more accessible to people on this side of the equator.
