Last days can be bittersweet. Today, being my last day at Ticket Alternative and Atlanta Music Guide is especially bittersweet for me.
I graduated high school with the dream of being a Journalism major at Columbia University in NYC. Ultimately, I decided to save money and stay close to home and attend Kennesaw State University. That was by far the best decision I have ever made. My first couple years at KSU, I had no idea what I wanted to do anymore. Journalism was no longer my number one choice as I struggled in all my General Education English courses. My junior year, I declared my major as Communication with a concentration in Media Studies. Not long after, I discovered to Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business program at KSU and suddenly all the pieces seemed to fit perfectly together.
Through the program, I earned this amazing opportunity to intern with Ticket Alternative and Atlanta Music Guide. I have learned so much over the last 4-5 months. I now know the in’s and out’s of WordPress, Spotify, HootSuite, SEO, and more. To be able to incorporate two of the things I love, writing and music, into one central task was a real blessing. I never once looked at any of my work as “work”. Researching new bands and going to shows is one of my favorite past times. Being able to attend some of the coolest shows and write reviews about how awesome they were hardly seems like work to me at all. Meeting and interviewing the artists as well as a GRAMMY U membership was just another fun perk.
Not to mention, all of the people at Ticket Alternative are awesome. There was never a dull day in the office. Don’t even get me started on our Free Lunch Fridays? Delicious!
