Friday October 11 – Modern Life is War w/Night Birds @ Rock & Roll Hotel
Modern Life Is War, one of the most beloved bands in the punk rock/hardcore world of the last decade, returns after a six year hiatus!
Since their emergence, Mount Kimbie have repeatedly confounded expectations, transforming themselves from bedroom-studio producers to creators of one of the most fully realized electronic album-length statements of recent years. At the heart of the band’s music lies that simplest of things: the meeting of two musical minds.
For fifteen years Reckless Kelly has been doing things their way, bucking the mainstream system and playing by their own rules, straddling the fence between country and rock as if they built it themselves.
The first of Spunk’s stories, “Sweat,” tells of a young washer woman who is abused and betrayed by her estranged husband, and her ultimate triumph over him. The second story, “Story in Harlem Slang,” is told in 1940’s Harlemese. It is the tale of two street lotharios trying to out-hustle each other. The third and final tale, “The Gilded Six Bits,” is a bittersweet story of an adoring husband’s betrayal by his loving but innocent wife.
Saturday October 12 – Gold Panda @ Black Cat
From London, residing in Berlin, signed to Ghostly International – Gold Panda has the right resume for an electronic musician. And he lives up to it. Come to the show and see what makes him one of the most interesting knob-twiddlers around.

Featuring David Tveite, Michael Foody, Adrain Rodney, Jose Sanchez, Romane Walters, Ryan Schutt, Jamel Johnson, Randy Syphax and Tyler Richardson.
Fresh off the release of their first live album, Electric Six are set to blow your mind at The Earl this Sunday!
Inspired by a long line of determined do-it-for-themselves musicians winding back through punk and psychedelia to rock ‘n’ roll and early r&b and finally the first scratchy years of the blues, Hanni El Khatib record song after bare-bones song. Come here his honed brand of soul powered rock n’ roll live!
