Director Glenn Casale brings the beloved children’s classic, “The Little Mermaid,” to life on the stage of The Fox Theatre for a limited time. Casale has made some special adaptations to the story, which was originally written in in 1837 by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. This variation of the story still focuses on a young mermaid’s struggle to accept herself and the measures she goes through to achieve her dream to walk on land. However this modern-day adaptation is also a unique coming-of-age story about a girl’s relationship with her single father.
The role of Ariel is played by Jessica Grové, who has played this part for 3 summers. Grové is a veteran to the stage and has acted in Broadway’s “A Little Night Music,” “Sunday in the Park with George,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Les Misérables.” The play also boasts a slew of other acclaimed actors, including: Steve Blanchard as King Triton, Matt Allen as Scuttle, Liz McCartney as Ursula and many more.
Opening night for the play is Tuesday, July 8th and continues through Sunday, July 13th. For more information about showtimes, please see below.
