TA Live: How would you describe what you do at Ticket Alternative?
I am the person who makes sure our employees have everything they need in order to do their job and do it in the best way possible. I am responsible for specific tasks such as hiring people, making sure machines work, and processing payroll as well as overall company items like office culture. In addition, I plan our employee appreciation outings, brainstorm ideas to make learning more fun at our meetings, and everything in between! I do so many things that it can be hard to explain it in only a sentence or two.
TA Live: How did you get started at Ticket Alternative?
I run two record labels on the side and have been working as an office manager in law firms for the past decade or so. I’ve always wanted a job that could appreciate my love of rock n’ roll as well as utilize my management skills and desire to be a part of a great company. Not many companies promote a love of music to where you can share how excited you are about a new record that came out or that a certain band is coming to town, so as soon as I saw the opening for Office Manager at Ticket Alternative I applied! I think this job is the perfect job for me and my personality.
TA Live: What do you enjoy most about your job?
The best part of my job is all of the things I get to do that make people genuinely happy. For example, when an employee is dealing with a frustrating printing situation and then I come in and can either fix it or get a new one for them – I really enjoy seeing how excited and appreciative people are for these little things. I also love efficiency and organization, so streamlining a process or procedure is definitely one of the best things about what I do as Office Manager.
TA Live: What’s your favorite Ticket Alternative venue?
Probably the EARL. I have booked shows there over the years and have seen all of my friends play there as well as many out-of-town bands. I also live about a mile from the venue, so it holds a special place in my heart.
TA Live: What do you like to do in your spare time?
I have the two record labels that have been pretty quiet, but are starting to pick up again. We have a record coming out in February on one of them, so that is something I am currently working on in my spare time. I’m also a single mom of a two year old, so I am often spending time with her – we like hanging out at Aurora and Criminal and various parks around Atlanta. When I’m lucky enough to book a sitter, I enjoy going to shows and hanging out with my friends.
TA Live: What’s something that makes you unique?
I am what one might consider a go getter. For instance, the first SXSW I went to I drove all the way to Austin and back by myself using an atlas. Yes, it was that long ago. I really wanted to go and no one else in town could leave when I could so I just met everyone out there. I’ve also been to SXSW pregnant while we hosted a showcase. I was slinging merchandise and running the show while creating life, so it was definitely a fun and memorable experience.
