It’s beginning to look a whole lot like winter. The weather is getting colder and the wind is biting. Leaves are covering the streets, cars, and pretty much everything else. The trees are turning red and so are our chilled little noses! But, believe it or not, this is honestly my favorite part of the year. Nothing makes me happier then walking out of the not so forgiving weather and into an energetic and crowded concert! This weekend is literally filled with a wonderful variety of shows and concerts. Check out our Weekend Picks and spend your time off watching some great music with friends!
Friday, November 9th- The Asteroids Galaxy Tour at Black Cat
The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is a Danish pop band consisting of vocalist Mette Lindberg and songwriter/producer Lars Iversen, formed in 2007.
Friday, November 9th- Jackopierce at Eddie’s Attic
Breaking up is hard to do. But staying together is nearly impossible. The average marriage lasts about six years, and 95% of new businesses fail within five years. Twenty two years of anything, especially Jackopierce, an acoustic duo that got its start playing frat-parties in the late 80′s, is hard to believe. Add-in the fact that Jack O’Neill and Cary Pierce did not speak for nearly five years before reuniting in 2002 makes twenty years a downright miracle. They are now touring in support of their new release, “Everywhere All The Time.”
Friday, November 9th- Earth at Rock and Roll Hotel
Dylan Carlson founded the band in 1989 along with Slim Moon and Greg Babior, taking the title “Earth” from Black Sabbath’s original name. Carlson has remained the core of the band’s line-up throughout its changes. Outside of the underground music world, Carlson is perhaps best known for having been a close friend of grunge icon Kurt Cobain, as well as the person who purchased the gun that Cobain later used to commit suicide. Cobain sang lead vocals in the song “Divine and Bright”, from a demo included on the re-release of the live album Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars.
